If you've been on social media lately, you've probably seen the heated debates over the International Criminal Court (ICC) trial involving former President Rodrigo Duterte. The internet has turned into a battlefield, with pro-Duterte and anti-Marcos supporters throwing accusations, insults, and conspiracy theories at each other. Frankly, it’s exhausting.

Before anything else, let me be clear—I am not pro-Duterte, nor am I pro-Marcos. I am pro-Filipino. And right now, what’s happening online isn’t helping the Philippines at all. Instead of coming together to build a better nation, we’re allowing political differences to divide us even further.

The Real Problem: Misinformation & Social Media Wars

The biggest issue isn’t just the ICC trial—it’s the way Filipinos are reacting to it. Social media has become a garbage dump of fake news, out-of-context headlines, and baseless accusations. The more we engage in this kind of toxic discourse, the more divided we become.

Now, more than ever, we need to be responsible for what we consume and share online. Getting your news from reputable sources—not from random Facebook pages, TikTok videos, or group chats—is crucial. If we continue to spread misinformation, we are only harming ourselves as a nation.

Unity Over Division

At the end of the day, politicians will come and go, but the Filipino people will remain. What matters most is how we, as citizens, respond to these challenges. Are we going to allow political drama to tear us apart? Or are we going to rise above the chaos and work toward a better Philippines?

Now is the time to focus on what truly matters—our families, our communities, and the future of our country. We cannot afford to waste our energy fighting over politicians who, let’s be honest, may not even know we exist.

What Can We Do? Pray.

When everything feels uncertain, one thing remains constant: God is in control. The Bible reminds us in 2 Chronicles 7:14, If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Prayer is not a passive act—it is the most powerful thing we can do. Let’s pray for wisdom, discernment, and peace. Let’s ask God to guide our leaders, regardless of who they are, and to protect the Philippines from deeper division. He allows things to happen for His greater glory and purpose. We may not always understand, but we can trust that He knows what is best for our nation.

Moving Forward

Instead of adding to the noise, let’s be part of the solution. Educate yourself, think before you post, and above all, seek God’s guidance. The Philippines doesn’t need more division—it needs hope, unity, and faith.

It starts with us. Let’s rise above the chaos and be the kind of Filipinos our nation truly needs.

What do you think? How can we help promote unity instead of division? Let’s talk in the comments.
